Raven Bishop and Dr. Sara Clarke-Vivier worked with the National Museum of Belize to assist them in designing their own virtual tour to make their collection more accessible to citizens of Belize and beyond. The team also learned low-tech, high impact digitization techniques that can be leveraged to catalog and document the museum's holdings.
We were also able to meet with BAM-the Belize Association of Museums to share the DSMP project and the community curation processes that make it successful. It was heartening to hear through our conversations that the challenges that small museums face hold true across cultures AND that these challenges are not insurmountable-in fact, a museum's smallness and connection to its community may indeed be its biggest strength!
It was a great week and we can't wait to see the results of this collaboration!
